Bikes Not Bombs is formed.

The non-profit group is located initially at 18 Bartlett Square but subsequently moves to 284 Amory Street. Its purpose is “using the bicycle as a vehicle for social change.” In addition to repairing bicycles, it sends salvaged bicycles to countries in the Africa, the Caribbean, and Central America.
